ArcadeThe Cabinet Row
Twenty-two upright and cocktail cabinets, from Galaga to Metal Slug, all set to free-play.

Fitzroy · Melbourne
A hand-built retro gaming lounge on Gertrude Street — original arcade cabinets, couch-co-op booths and tournament nights, seven days a week.
Open daily · 11am–late
The Realm
We started RetroValor Realm in a Fitzroy warehouse with a dozen restored cabinets and a milk crate of cartridges. Today the room holds forty-plus machines — from a 1981 Galaga upright to a wall of CRT couch-co-op stations — all lovingly kept in working order.
We don’t sell nostalgia. We keep the machines alive, the scores honest, and the couches warm.
Whether you grew up on a SNES or you’re discovering a light-gun cabinet for the first time, there’s a seat with your name on it. Grab a filter coffee, pick a two-player, and settle in.

Reviews
A few words from the folks who keep the high-score tables interesting.
“Booked the private booth for my partner’s birthday. The host ran a Mario Kart bracket and printed our scores on the way out. Genuinely the best night we’ve had in Fitzroy.”
“They recapped my 1983 Donkey Kong board that three other shops wouldn’t touch. Runs like new and they talked me through every fix.”
“I come every Thursday for the Street Fighter bracket. Friendly crowd, honest scoring, and the filter coffee is weirdly excellent.”
“Took my two kids on a rainy Sunday and we stayed four hours. Staff showed my daughter how to beat the first Galaga stage. We’re members now.”
Good to know
Everything you might want to check before your first visit to Gertrude Street.
Walk-ins are always welcome for the free-play floor. We only recommend booking ahead for private booths, tournament nights and birthday quests, since those fill up fast — especially on weekends and Thursday evenings.
A free-play floor pass is AU$18 per hour and covers every cabinet and console on the floor — there are no coin slots. Private booths start at AU$65 for two hours, and members get two free-play hours each week.
Absolutely. The floor is all-ages until 8pm, and our staff are happy to help younger players find games at their level. After 8pm the room becomes 18+ for our licensed evening sessions.
Yes. Our restoration bench handles board recapping, control rebuilds and monitor re-tubing for collectors across Melbourne. Bring it in for a free assessment and we’ll give you an honest quote and timeline, usually two to six weeks.
We’re at 46 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, a short walk from the top of Smith Street. There is metered street parking nearby, and the 86 tram stops almost at our door.
